Letter to Congress Workers from Madam Sonia..

Dear Friends,

In a recent talk that I gave in the Netherlands, I pointed out that one of the things we are most proud of in India is our democracy. I also pointed out that one of the reasons that our democracy holds and has continued to be stable, is because it is representative not just of its people but of India's pluralist, diverse and rich cultural heritage. This is something that the Congress Party has always stood by and our commitment to the nation and to its people is constantly demonstrated through our policies at the Centre and in the States. The UPA government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has made inclusive development its goal. For the Congress Party this means bringing in all those groups and regions that lag behind. The Congress Party is committed especially to empowering women and we have passed significant legislation such as the Domestic Violence Bill and the Reform of the Hindu Property Bill in the past three years. We have once again reached a historical milestone in nominating, through a consensus amongst the UPA allies, a woman candidate, Smt. Pratibha Patil as our Presidential nominee. This proves that no post, howsoever high in the country, is beyond the reach of its women, who have contributed significantly and continue to contribute in making India proud.

The victory of the Congress-NCP alliance in Goa has once again proved that Congress Party's agenda of inclusive growth and social harmony continues to find favour with the people of the country. We want to congratulate our Party workers for their hard work and dedication in leading the fight against the communal and corrupt forces represented by the BJP. The Party must continue to ensure that it practices good governance and that the needs of the people are met and their grievances heard and speedily addressed.

While we are proud of the role being played by our private entrepreneurs and the GDP growth of our country, we must not forget that there

still exists great disparity in India. Education, health and basic infrastructure still lags behind in our rural areas. The UPA government's focus

on rural and agricultural revitalisation is, therefore, not mere populism, it is the basis on which economic growth can be made to reach the

masses. As I said recently in a rally in Gujarat, the Opposition too must stop being partisan and ensure that all the policies for the agricultural

sector of the UPA government are implemented in states currently ruled by them and the funds made available properly utilised. Partisan and

narrow-minded politics only makes the people of the state suffer and denies them the fruits of development. This fight against poverty, as

the Prime Minister recently pointed out, has to be fought collectively by the private sector, civil society and the government working together.

This is an issue that must cut across party lines.

Finally, I would like to share with our readers the success of our Party's mission to commemorate 2nd October, Mahatama Gandhi's birthday

as the International Peace Day. This decision was recently passed by the members of the United Nations and will serve as an important

reminder of peaceful resistance as an alternative to violence in combating social injustice in all forms. We would like to thank our international

friends for their support and hope that the 2nd of October will lead to greater peace and harmony in the world.

Letter addressed to Congress Leader Shri. H VASANTHA KUMAR, MLA for implementation of Railway Project In Tirunelveli

Respected Sir,
I am Poonachi G Son and I have a great regard on you. Even though I am having different political affiliation, I strongly believe that you as an elected member of Nanguneri Constituency can do wonders. I wish to submit the following points to your kind consideration.
I request to take full initiative for the revival of South Economic Zone [SEZ] and request you to invite all IT entrepreneurs to open Tidal Park at Nanguneri. For this a meeting of people of Confederation of Indian Industries [CII] may be convened at Chennai and representatives of CII may be taken to Tirunelveli district and be shown the potentials.
[a] More IT skill is available in and around Nanguneri, Tirunelveli and Nagerkoil.
[b] Land, Labour and adequate capital is also available within Tirunelveli / Kanyakumari district.
[c] The nearest airport [and also sea port] at Thoothukudi will cater the faster travel needs of IT personals.
[d] The nearest 2 X 1000 MW power generation at Kudankulam will ensure uninterrupted power supply to IT corridor.
Only entrepreneurs like you can take initiative in the right direction. Further the Big Lake (Periya Eeeri) at Nanguneri can cater the required water supply to SEZ. Further Nanguneri lies on NH 7 (National High) way which is another boom.
Similarly a car manufacturing company at Nanguneri may be initiated
Relaying of road link
between Cheranmahadevi to Nanguneri via Kalakad.[Election promise]
Nanguneri Thisayanvillai road beyond Pettaikulam and Urumankulam
Construction of Kalyanamandabam in the unutilized land belonging to Temple and / or Church or other religious institutions, on B.O.T [Built, Operate, & Transfer] basis and allowing them to function as community hall for the residents of Nanguneri and adjacent villages.
Introduction of separate Broad Gauge [Direct] line between Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli via Palayamkotaai and thus up grading Thoothukudi Railway station to Thoothukudi Junction.
Laying new BROAD GAUGE line between Thoothukudi [via Tiruchendur Sattankulam Koodankulam & Radhapuram] and Valliyur and thus enabling First East Coast Rail Link between Kanyakumari to Chennai which will be in future considered as an important route for both military and civilian movement.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,

POONACHI G SON
